No company can survive for long with employees who are lukewarm or uncommitted to their work. Ensuring staff enthusiasm and a sense that their contributions are valued is pivotal to your success. Effective communication consistently comes in first whenever Robert Half asks executives about the best way to improve the enthusiasm of their workforce. In one of our most recent surveys, nearly half (48 percent) of executives interviewed cited better communication as the best remedy for low morale. Especially during times of change or uncertainty, it’s important to keep the lines of communication open. Finally, realize that good communication is as much about listening as talking. Encouraging staff to offer their insights, ideas and perspectives gives them a greater sense of commitment to the job at hand. In between meetings, try to maintain as much as feasible an open-door policy to make sure employees know they are welcome to approach you with both ideas and concerns. |
